Back to: LGBT Persons & Substance Use Disorders: Special Considerations for Treatment Providers
Welcome to the LGBT Persons & Substance Use Disorders: Special Considerations for Treatment Providers Course from our partners at NBHAP. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Enroll in the Course:
If you haven’t signed up for the course yet, go to the course page (click the “Back to Course” button below). This will let you join the course.
2. Complete Each Lesson:
Make sure you complete every lesson. After watching/reading the lesson content and taking the quiz, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the “Mark Complete” button. This action indicates that you’ve finished that lesson.
3. Course Structure:
This course has two lessons (this is lesson one, lesson two is a video), one quiz, and a required evaluation. The video lesson lasts about one hour. There is a quiz after the video. The “Take Quiz” button will be inactive until you reach the conclusion of the video. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to fast-forward or rewind videos. Additionally, please note that leaving the webpage or minimizing the window will cause the video to stop playing. Although the system is designed to save your progress in the video, it’s important to note that the reliability of this functionality can vary due to differences in individual computer setups and/or internet quality.
4. Evaluation Section:
After successfully completing the lessons and quiz, you’ll find an evaluation form. Fill out the form and click “Submit.” Once you’ve done that, click “Mark Complete” to move on to the final quiz section.
5. Taking Quizzes:
Quizzes have a time limit, so keep an eye on the time. The questions on the quizzes will be different each time you take them. If you don’t pass the quiz on your first attempt, don’t worry. You can restart the video and have two more chances, for a total of three attempts, to pass the quiz. You will fail the course if you do not pass the quiz after three attempts. You cannot retake failed courses. Remember, you must score at least 75% on each quiz to pass the course.
Completing all parts of the course and passing the quiz will earn you a completion certificate. This will be found in your dashboard. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
6. Use of Technology
Our course content, particularly video materials, is optimized for smooth playback when accessed through a reliable internet connection. While WiFi is commonly used, it can sometimes be prone to fluctuations and interruptions, potentially affecting the quality of your learning sessions.
To enhance your experience and minimize the risk of disruptions, we strongly recommend connecting to the internet via a hard-wired system (Ethernet cable). This will provide a more stable and consistent connection, reducing the likelihood of buffering or video playback issues.
It’s important to note that while we strive to provide an optimal learning environment, we are not responsible for individual computer problems. We recommend ensuring that your device is in good working condition and meets the technical requirements for accessing our course materials.
7. ADA Compliance Policy
CCAPP is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive learning environment in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable laws. We recognize the importance of equitable access to educational resources and have implemented the following accommodations to support a diverse range of learners:
- Language Access: Our platform features translation software that allows users to translate on-site text into multiple languages. Please note that some video and flip-book content may not be translatable.
- Visual Aid Options: We provide customizable visual aids, including adjustable font sizes, contrast settings, and alternative text descriptions for images, to enhance accessibility for individuals with visual impairments.
- Closed Captioning: All video content includes closed captioning to ensure accessibility for individuals with hearing impairments.
These measures reflect our commitment to reasonable accommodations, ensuring meaningful access to our educational materials.
Please note that while we strive to maintain a broadly accessible platform, we may not be able to provide individualized accommodations beyond the features listed above. Users requiring additional support are encouraged to utilize their own assistive technologies or contact their educational institution or employer for further assistance.
