First, understand the data on substance use disorders (SUDS) in the LGBT community.

Second, explore the impact of specific cultural/social determinants of health associated with the community.

  • Internalized homophobia (and similar minority stressors).

Finally, develop a basic understanding of evidence-based treatments for LGBT persons with SUDs.

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI).
  • Contingency Management (CM).
